- 2nd Week of July -
I read The Alchemist and have since decided to move to Spain as was my plan in 2023 before I got this masters degree. One of the major reoccurring themes was reading the omens of the world. There have been 4 dead birds that have slammed up against my building. Not sure what to make of this. Maybe I should not be fooled by illusions. This magpie had a THICCC worm in its beak.
My supervisor asked me to benchmark the RA resource rooms and the mailrooms in all of our residence halls. She gave me a very reasonable deadline that I was able to meet and turned in my executive report along with the full documentation for the rooms. I showed off my template in the 4th of July journal. When creating the executive summary I had the opportunity to offer solutions that were integrated with my findings after my 1 on 1's with the DA's. My primary recommendation was to mount our key-board holders to the wall rather than vicariously leaning against things. The project is not complete however, there is still an audit and upgrade to complete for the keys and the rentable items respectively. Strangely this project reminded me of short film I made in high school. The concept was that I was renting out closets to chill, cry, scream, or hide in. It was a larger reference to the time my high school literally told me to get dressed in a closet instead of the dressing rooms with the rest of the cast. The other two trans actors also joined me. Seeing these quiet, packed, rooms just felt so peaceful and a strikingly diverse. These were my recommendations that should be a good rule of thumb for any RA Resource room:
Everything must have a designated & labeled place.
Printed photos of what the space is supposed to look like should be posted.
Staff are responsible for maintaining these spaces and caring for its organization.
Before the end of the semester these rooms are to be organized into a perfect state.
A space should be available for 1 or more people to sit and work on projects within the room at a desk.
This document should be used as an official audit for keys and rented items uploaded to StarRes.
